Weight Management & Emotional Eating

Your body, your story

Did you know that dieting is the number one predictor of weight gain? As you begin to restrict what you eat, it does a number of things – it increases distorted thinking about food and physical changes occur within the body in attempt to keep your weight where it is. Diets almost always work in the short term, but for the majority of people, this is short lived and results in a sense of failure as weight increases. That is why it is such a big industry.

We live in a society that focuses on diet and weight. It is almost impossible to go anywhere and not hear the “I can’t believe how much weight I have lost” story or the “you shouldn’t be eating that” comment. As a dietitian experienced in working with clients with eating disorders and emotional eating, I see firsthand the harm that comes from these comments.

How I work with clients:

At the first session I take a detailed assessment to identify your relationship with food and your body. Following sessions are a mixture of nutrition information together with building an understanding of how and why you relate to food the way you do, and strategies to help move to a place of healing. The process is slow, but so rewarding for clients who have ventured along it.

Society teaches us not to trust our bodies and wills us to change the way we eat and look to fit in. I work with clients to regain their inner trust and to bring joy back into eating.

Are you ready to take the first step? Sessions are non-judgemental and highly individualised to meet you where you are at in your journey.

Because we have way less control of sustainable weight loss, this is not my focus. My focus is on changing the way you relate to food and your body and to work towards a healed relationship. Your weight will go where it wants to, which will then be sustained.
