ACC Sensitive Claims
ACC Sensitive Claims Support
I work with clients in this space from a trauma-based perspective, to journey with them towards healing and restoration.
If you are a client and have identified that you have reached the point in your journey where you want to address either the disordered eating component of your support, or need nutrition assistance, then I would like to encourage you to speak to your therapist to determine whether some allocations with a registered dietitian can be allocated in your ACC Sensitive Claims plan.
As a dietitian with experience in this space, I understand that it can feel very vulnerable to speak about your experiences with food and your body. I encourage you to look around my website to see if you feel I may be a good fit for you and speak to your lead therapist to see if you qualify for allocated sessions.
If you are a therapist or supplier and are requiring dietitian support for your clients, I currently do contract to a number of suppliers and am open to supporting you, depending on the needs of your client.

Some useful information I have discovered as a dietitian working in this space:
- If your client is requiring support for disordered eating as a result of the trauma, it is essential that they have done significant work with you as the therapist to enabling them to be in a position where they are able to make changes and let go of the function of the eating disorder/disordered eating. If the referral comes to me too soon, clients may not be ready to address this part of their recovery.
- It is helpful if the client has identified that there is an issue around food for them and they are in a place where they would like to move forward and address it.
- I have found it to be most helpful when therapists are able to negotiate the number of sessions required for a client. If I don’t use all the sessions, then I always inform the therapist to ensure the remaining sessions can be allocated elsewhere.

Clients I do work with under ACC Sensitive Claims:
✓ Adults with binge eating disorder, bulimia, disordered/emotional eating, provided they are not underweight (approximate sessions required is 20 – 25).
✓ Children or adults with bowel issues wanting to see if dietary modification can support them (sessions required is approximately 6).
✓ Adults with other health issues that may be nutrition related.
✓ Adults who would like some support with learning practical cooking skills. I am able to do this in my kitchen.
✓ Adults who require any other nutrition support or education.
Clients I don’t work with:
❌ Adults or children with ARFID
❌ Anyone under the age of 20 with any eating disorder/disordered eating.
❌ Adults/Children with Anorexia Nervosa
❌ Adults/Children who are underweight due to an eating disorder.
